Regular The RAND Corporation seeks an
Accounting Specialist III
to assist in processing routine to moderately complex expense reports. Posts and calculates duties in support of Travel Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivable functions and/or general accounting functions. This position is also responsible for completing assigned transactions using standard policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Validates expense reports against travelers’ receipts (general travel as well as board and relocation travel).
Reconciles airline billings and payments for non-employee travel. Processes registration fees and hotel deposits for conferences.
Reviews supplier invoices and matches invoices to Purchase Orders as appropriate.
Inputs data, reviews for accuracy, verifies coding, and maintains files. Totals, balances, and reconciles accounts; recommends necessary actions to resolve discrepancies.
Summarizes and posts data/cash receipts to journals, ledgers, and other records. Prepares deposits for all accounts.
Prepares and distributes invoices, statements, billing summaries and periodic or special accounting reports including month-end closing and balances as related to RAND employees and/or Pardee RAND students.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience with SAP Concur Expense Reporting system is preferred
Strong excel skills are required, including the use of Pivot Tables.
Understanding Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is highly desirable.
Must be highly motivated with consistent attention to detail.
Must have superior communications skills;able to assess what information is needed and effectively communicate to all internal and external clients.
Education Requirements
High School Degree or GED equivalency is required.
AA/AS in accounting is preferred.

Salary Range
$50,900 – $72,300
