The newly opened Aloft Hotel on the Country Club Plaza and Cascade Hotel in Kansas City, a Tribute Portfolio hotel, are destined to become the crown jewels of the Country Club Plaza hotel scene. Situated on the North side of the Plaza, these hotels pay tribute to the history of Kansas City, while leaving a distinct mark of their own. With a combined 300 guest rooms, 5 bars, a two-story restaurant, and 15,000 sq feet of meeting space, these hotels will be the preferred destination for smaller conferences, meetings, vacations, celebrations, and everyone else that comes to Kansas City.

We are in search of an Accounting Clerk that will play a key role in the success of these hotels. If you are experienced, innovative, tenacious, and ready to make your mark – we want to hear from you.

The Accounting clerk reports directly to the General Manager and performs clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting assignments in the hotel.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with accounts payable entry & check requests.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly financials.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Prepares daily cash reporting and related journal entries.
  • Assists with annual budget.
  • Assists with annual audits and tax filings.
  • Monthly general ledger reviews.
  • Quarterly dividend calculation.
  • Responding and resolving to Guest billing disputes.
  • Understands and enforces the hotel company accounting /credit policies.
  • Responds to all Chargebacks for Credit Card Companies.
  • Generates and archive daily reports.
  • Reconcile Receivable Tenant Reports.
  • Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
  • Accounts for all cash and makes deposits in accordance with company policies.
  • Back up for the receipt of goods and receipt of invoices.
  • Assists in other accounting functions and special projects due to business need and as work-load permits.
  • Work with Accounting department on Month End Financial Statements.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks and projects.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures.
  • Multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Proficient knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting software.
  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing fiscal recordkeeping.
  • Ability to examine and verify financial documents and reports.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of reports and analyses.
  • Ability to follow through on work assignments.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to track multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record keeping.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate degree in accounting preferred.
  • One to Three years of related experience required.
  • Lightspeed experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently subject to prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The associate may frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Must be willing to complete a drug screen and background check.
