Community Servings’ mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the “Food is Medicine” field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 33 years, the agency has provided 11M+ free, scratch-made meals.
The main role of the Accounting Associate is to perform varied financial recordkeeping duties which include confidential accounts payable and other accounting tasks.
Primary Responsibilities:

Accounts payable:
Review all invoices for authorization, accuracy, and compliance with agency policy.
Verify account coding.
Enter invoices into the accounting software.
Pay invoices weekly or as needed, subject to cash flow needs.
Resolve invoice problems with vendors.
Maintain and reconcile company credit card accounts.
Perform expense analysis as required.
Perform accounts payable tasks for affiliated organizations.
Prepare and file 1099 statements annually.
Keep accounts payable files up to date and in good order.
Accounting:
Prepare payroll bank account reconciliations.
Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks.
Reconcile credit card receipts and enter the general ledger monthly.
Record cash receipts and deposits.
Maintain capital pledge records.
Record loan transactions.
Prepare schedules and assemble backup for annual audit.
Other:
Maintain finance department files in good order.
Perform other related administrative duties as required by the Chief Financial Officer.
Qualification/Experience:
General knowledge of accounting principles
Detail-oriented individual with a high degree of accuracy while processing tasks efficiently.
Ability to solve problems alone or with others.
Ability to follow procedures and maintain consistency.
Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
Experience and comfort with the use of spreadsheets and accounting software.
Sound administrative skills and solid knowledge of general office procedures.
Skill in interpersonal relations to ensure effective communication with a multi-cultural population.
Bi-lingual speaking ability (e.g., Spanish) is a plus.
Education/ Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent relevant work experience.
One to three years of accounting experience.
