Job Summary

The Successful candidate will be providing accurate, complete and timely required manufacturing & construction information for the issue to all internal and external recipients. Working closely with the lead designers and head of technical to achieve targets. 

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, you will be required to do the following:

  • Support the design, production and site teams with any design and technical queries. 
  • Work with external design teams to ensure work is delivered and checked on time. 
  • Provide specialist technical design information to the planning team. 
  • Work on 1 – 2 projects simultaneously
  • Ensure all live projects in the department are in line or ahead of the program. 
  • Work with and assist the design team in achieving departmental goals.
  • To report software issues to provider and ensure progress is being made on fixes 
  • The correct interpretation of externally supplied information as the basis for the design.
  • The accurate application of supplied Structural Engineering information.
  • The accurate design of panels, joists and roof trusses where applicable
  • The correct application of NHBC / Zurich warranty requirements
  • Check outputs to ensure compliance with architectural and structural layouts and successful client approval.
  • The timely resolution of technical and Architectural queries to the progress design
  • The maintenance of complete project design records
  • Compliance with company QA procedures
  • You will be able to follow direction well and demonstrate a good eye to detail.
  • Completion of cutting lists, schedules and design drawings for manufacture and site

Experience, Qualifications & Technical Requirements

  • Must be able to demonstrate or be in training to gain the following:
    • Must have at least 5 years timber frame experience with a competent knowledge of wall, floor, roof and steel design
    • Experience in detailing a full range of timber-framed structures.
    • A working knowledge of Building Regulations, Parts A, B, E, K, L & M
    • A basic understanding of structural loadings and behaviors
    • Must be competent in math, trigonometry and geometry to GCSE level.
    • A working knowledge of Robust Detail Ltd certification scheme
    • A working knowledge of NHBC and Zurich Warranty scheme requirements.
    • Have at least 5 years practical experience working on Revit or AutoCAD.  
    • An understanding of the demands applicable to Construction and Design Management regulations and Company Health and Safety policy
  • Required to work within a team with an emphasis on achieving high standards and compliance with the program
  • Required to clearly and effectively communicate at all levels both internally and externally in all mediums.
  • Exhibit determination to complete tasks and have a positive approach to cope with new challenges.
    • Should be self-motivated with an attention to detail whilst demonstrating the ability to work under pressure.
  • Required to provide a high level of service to internal and external customers. Should be able to engage in close working relationships with all disciplines
