Overview
The IT System Administrator is a part of the IT Operations team. The role will focus heavily on process optimization. The System Administrator will be responsible for leveraging both existing tools as well as procuring new tools. These tools will ultimately be used to streamline current support needs, support our mobile workforce, and prepare for future growth. The position will support enterprise hardware such as a SAN, VMware/Azure infrastructure, and related hardware. The System Administrator will also work closely with the internal IT support staff as a means of escalation when necessary.
Position Duties
Primary
- Improve scalability for endpoint deployment processes for computers and thin clients
- Optimize processes for user creation, change of status, and terminations
- Onboarding for new business acquisitions
- Frequent onsite support and health checks
- Functioning as main IT representative during onboarding
- Partnering with the IT helpdesk to provide comprehensive support to those team members.
- Enhance IT support footprint through MDM and related tools
- Optimize IT alerts to reduce alert fatigue and false positives
Supporting
- Assist with computer systems and network server changes and troubleshooting
- Assist with virtualization and accompanying data center hardware
- Support backup and DR processes
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and providing a root cause analysis
- Create and maintain technical documentation and work instructions for IT processes
- Assist with remote site support and field repair duties upon escalation
- Support our security stack, keeping team members operational and secure
- Work with vendor to support printer fleet
- Manage special technology projects and initiatives as assigned
- Utilize our service desk system for support request communication and tracking
- Handle system related month end tasks
- Training end users on hardware and software functionality
- Monitoring and responding to alerts for network connected devices
- Serve as a technical resource for capacity planning and other project discussions
Competencies
- Knowledge of network equipment, wiring, VLAN configuration, and network diagnostic tools
- Solid understanding of computer systems, peripherals, printers, and Windows operating systems.
- Moderate Microsoft Office experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Office 365 administration
- Excellent interpersonal as well as written communication and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of current technology trends and improvements.
- High level of customer service.
- Great team player with a positive “can do attitude”.
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Knowledge of automation and scripting tools
Education / Experience:
- 3-5 years of network administrator or system administration experience
- An Associate’s or BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, System Administration, or closely related field
- System administration and IT certifications are a plus
